The competition is supported by The Law Society and the closing date for entries is 23:59 on 12 May 2015. To be eligible to enter candidates will need to be studying or have studied law (full T&Cs can be found on the competition site).

The competition is being organised by Harbottle & Lewis, a leading Technology, Media and Entertainment law firm, and Proceed, the portal for legal students and graduate careers. Two finalists will each win a week-long work placement at Harbottle & Lewis, where they’ll get first hand work experience and be closely mentored by Harbottle & Lewis lawyers, plus a guaranteed first round training contract interview. The three runners up will also receive a first round training contract interview. There is no cost to enter and reasonable expenses will be covered during the work placement.

About the competition

The rules of the competition are simple. Candidates will be asked to answer one of two questions in no more than 500 words. They’ll need to demonstrate their intelligence, ability to identify key commercial and legal issues and provide practical solutions to identified problems. They’ll also need to complete a Proceed profile to ensure they meet the entry criteria.

The responses will be judged and independently reviewed and, based purely on merit, the 12 most outstanding eligible entries will be shortlisted. The shortlisted candidates will be invited to discuss their answer with a panel of judges comprising of one lawyer and a member of the HR department at Harbottle & Lewis and an independent judge expected to be a representative of the Law Society. The two winners and three runners up will be notified by the 20th of July.
